Refugees from Ukraine can stay forever in one of the European countries

According to the latest changes in migration policy, the government of New Zealand has granted Ukrainian refugees the opportunity to obtain permanent resident status. This decision was announced by the Minister of Immigration, Andrew Little.

The initial response of the New Zealand government to the Russian invasion of Ukraine included the introduction of a special visa for Ukrainians, valid for 12 months with the possibility of extension for another year. However, starting from March 15, 2024, the acceptance of applications for this visa will be suspended. Individuals who have already received or will submit an application for the visa before the specified date will have the right to apply for permanent resident status. By this time, 1,500 visas have been issued to Ukrainian citizens, with approximately 340 already in New Zealand.

To obtain permanent residency, applicants must undergo a medical examination, undergo a personal character check, complete additional identification, and pay a fee of 1200 New Zealand dollars, equivalent to approximately 708 US dollars.
