Techno-impulse for patriotism – education of a new generation of Ukrainians

The 21st century is a century of updating the content of education, which requires solving a complex problem: how to transform a gigantic mass of social knowledge into the individual property of each individual.

The main task of education is to prepare young people for modern life, i.e. forming the necessary competencies in her. Therefore, the purpose of the educational system is to prepare a specialist at the appropriate level who will meet the modern requirements of the labor market.

During the war of liberation, the identification process is usually significantly accelerated for an adult. For a young person, war is a test that can increase and even engender a sense of patriotism, but it can also cause a feeling of deep frustration with all its consequences. To prevent the latter from happening, teaching teams must develop and constantly put into practice a system of influence that contributes to the formation of patriotic consciousness and the affirmation of Ukrainian public identity among students.

, races, nationalities, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, etc.;

  • awareness of joint responsibility for peace and the fate of the world in the XXI century..;
  • formation of the ability to learn throughout life and quickly adapt to changes in the sociocultural and multicultural environment;
  • mastery of foreign languages, spiritual achievements of other peoples, expansion of cultural ties from representatives of different countries;
  • deep feeling, protection and preservation of one’s own, native in the conditions of globalization.
  • Formation of the basics of critical thinking, the main features of which are as follows:

    • the ability to listen to the opinions of others, evaluate and analyze them in relation to the solution of the given problem;
    • striving to argue the decision based on knowledge of the case, facts from life and life experience;
    • intellectual activity in various life situations, the ability to take an active position in confrontational situations;
    • a person listens to criticism directed at him, analyzes it, thanks to the analysis he can agree with the remarks, sincerely ask for forgiveness, and he can contrast his opinion with the position of others or disagree with others. Criticism is a petty, meticulous and superficial assessment of other people’s actions; as a rule, this is self-affirmation at the expense of condemning something and someone, it is a way for the weak and unable to feel good about themselves at the expense of other people; for teenagers, it can be a struggle for the “right not to study”, which does not lead to anything constructive. Criticism (within critical thinking — the ability to analyze information as accurately as possible in order to then constructively use the knowledge gained) is an analysis, analysis, discussion of something to correct mistakes, or improve what is being criticized;
    • the ability to penetrate into the essence problems, depth of information;
    • ability to tolerant dialogue and discussion. A person knows how to listen to the opinion of others, treat these opinions with respect, convincingly prove his position;
    • information is the starting point, not the end point of critical thinking.

    National-patriotic education

    1. Knowledge of history as the foundation of national-patriotic education; main historical messages:
    2. Ukraine is a country with a thousand-year history.
    3. The Soviet Union and Nazi Germany are two totalitarian countries of the 20th century.
    4. The Holodomor of 1932-1933 – the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
    5. The history of independent Ukraine is a dramatic story of a nation that broke free from the iron grip of its “elder brother” and is paving the way to democracy.
    6. East and West: planetary confrontation or the path to understanding.
    7. European values and the European vector of Ukraine.
    8. Russia’s war with Ukraine began in 2014 (with the annexation of Crimea).
    9. Russian-Ukrainian war as a war of identities: “Ukrainians defend their independence, on the other hand, for Russians, the territory of Ukraine is the lands of “historical Russia”, which should become part of it. The civilizational gulf between Russian and Ukrainian identities promises to be the main — and long-lasting — result of this terrible war” (V. Portnikov).

    Promoting the formation of the Ukrainian public identity of students as citizens of Ukraine on a personal basis (I – a citizen is a citizen of Ukraine) and at the collective (we are citizens of Ukraine) levels through the actualization of the main markers of national-citizen identity:

    • language as a symbolic key to national culture, as the main marker of public identity;
    • education of deep respect for the anthem, flag, coat of arms, national costumes of Ukraine;
    • commemoration of significant events in the history of Ukraine, its outstanding persons.
    • Crystallization of Ukrainian identity under during the war:
    • forming a sense of unity, support, and mutual assistance at the level of the city, country, and Europe;
    • forming an active public position: my own contribution to the Victory;
    • honoring and helping young people whose close relatives defend Ukraine with weapons in their hands;
    • providing special attention and psychological assistance to those students who lost their homes and lost loved ones;
    • unfortunately, there are unmarried widows, girls whose parents went missing or died at the front;
    • identifying students with psychological and emotional protest non-acceptance of public identity, establishing the reasons for protested identity and individual work with them.

    On September 21, we remind our students that the International Day of Peace is a symbol of hope and compassion for millions of people around the world who seek to end armed conflicts and build a world free of war and suffering. Personally, this feeling is currently relevant for us, Ukrainians. This day is not only a symbolic date, but also an important reminder to the world that a cruel and bloody war started by Russia has been going on in our country for the second year. We have experienced so many trials and losses that we can truly say: we, the citizens of Ukraine, understand the value of peace like no one else, and each of us can take certain steps to bring peace in our country, to get closer to Victory, to the final expulsion of the aggressor from our land.

    From the first days of the war, Kharkiv students actively contributed to the path to Victory. They helped adult volunteers; became donors; collected money for the Armed Forces (“Brave hryvnia” campaign, “Let’s collect money for a device for territorial defense”); helped parents at work in Europe (work at a factory, office cleaning, construction work, etc.); they took on a significant part of household chores: cooking for the whole family, participating in house repairs, working in agriculture, helping in the gardens. It should be emphasized that not immediately after the beginning of the war, all young people joined the work, help, and became responsible. At first, many had despair, even frustration: shelling, shops were closed in small villages, there was nowhere to buy bread, it was scary to go to the city. All the teachers in the group chat and individually explained that we are a part of our country, that it depends on each of us, how we organize our lives together during the war, had efficiency and effectiveness.

    «And learn from others, and do not shun your own” – these words of Taras Shevchenko are relevant for the perspective thinking of the third millennium, because in the globalized world it is easy to lose one’s own, but it is difficult to find it. Of course, students “do not shy away from their own” in the lessons of Ukrainian language and literature, history of Ukraine, and in the lessons of foreign literature they must “learn from others”.

    In order for students to master the Ukrainian language, teachers conduct various explanatory work, why it is so important for all citizens of Ukraine to be fluent in the state language. All teachers in educational institutions communicate in Ukrainian not only in official situations, but also in private conversations and correspondence. Today, not all teachers speak the Ukrainian language perfectly, but training leads to good results. In educational institutions, measures are systematically held to support and encourage the desire to master the Ukrainian language perfectly.

    On the eve of Education Day, I want to say:

    Ureader! Before your name let me humbly bow the knee. There is no higher calling to be a teacher on earth. A teacher is destiny, his vocation and purpose is to make the world a better place, to bring goodness and love into it. All the pride of a teacher is in his students. Being a bright ray for students and radiating light yourself is the highest happiness for a teacher.

    A peaceful and happy life was interrupted by a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into our free and independent Ukraine! And now all teachers are working on the educational front, supporting our Armed Forces of Ukraine.

    Happy Teacher’s Day to all strong and indomitable teachers!
